Airbus is one of the biggest aircraft manufacturers in the world and the Airbus Beluga is just one of their many creations. What is interesting about the Airbus Beluga is that it is an aircraft designed to carry other aircraft, or in other cases, oversized cargo. It was first introduced in September, 1995 at a unit cost of about $285 million.
The aircraft is designed to carry super-heavy load over long distances. It can carry a load of up to 40 tonnes over a distance of 2,700 kilometers. It can even travel further with decreasing payload. The maximum cruising speed it can attain is 857 km/h.
