On New Zealand’s South Island lies the beautiful city of Dunedin. Venture about seven kilometres out of the city and you’ll come across a tunnel that looks scary, but brave your way through it and you’ll end up at one of the most beautiful beaches in the country.
A local politician built the tunnel in the late 19th century for his family, and the 72 steps leading down are as dim and spooky as it gets.
But walk out the tunnel’s other end and you’ll find yourself surrounded by 15-metre sandstone cliffs, rough waves and the privacy you’ve been craving for a quick dip in the ocean.
Just another reason why New Zealand rocks!
