Ostrich Chasing Down Cyclists Is Pure Comedy

In South Africa, a bunch of cyclists were training for the Cape Town Cycle Tour when they received unexpected competition: an ostrich!

The headcam footage, taken by Oleksiy Mishchenko of Switzerland, shows the massive bird coming out of nowhere and going after his two buddies.

‘The road through the national park is quite and a little deserted’, Mishchenko said. ‘Suddenly I heard a noise on my left and saw a big ostrich in the bush’. And though most might take the strange moment as frightening, Mishchenko actually found it hilarious. You can even hear him chuckling in the video.

‘I was following behind almost falling off my bike from laughter. The creature had no problem to keep up at 50km/h! Luckily it left us alone because we were about to run out of the road, at it is a dead end at the Cape of Good Hope’.

Ostriches have a top speed of 70km/h and can even run 16 kilometres straight at a steady clip of 48km/h.
