During the last couple of weeks, Vivo has been quite busy teasing its upcoming smartphone dubbed Vivo X5Pro.
If you’re somewhat familiar with Vivo’s history, you’re probably thinking that the X5Pro won’t be a flagship, given its name (Vivo usually publishes flagships under the XPlay brand). And while you’re probably right, given that the smartphone in question will be powered by a Snapdragon 615 chipset, Vivo has made sure to pack a lot of cool features into its upcoming device.
The latest such feature to be teased by the company is Iris scanning. Take a look and join us after the break.
The teaser below has surfaced on Vivo’s official Weibo account and its tagline reads something like: “The eye recognition equipped on the X5Pro is intelligent and secure. It can recognize the user eye’s unique vein pattern in order to achieve a high level of security” (translation adapted from Google Translate in order to make sense).
Other nifty features and specs already teased by Vivo are metallic build, 2.5D display glass, 32MP capable front facing camera (probably through some sort of software trick), phase detection autofocus technology enabled main camera, 3500 mAh battery and a USB type C port.
All in all, this smartphone sounds like a feature packed piece of tech and we’re eagerly waiting to discover all its secrets once it goes official (probably sometime in May). So … iris scanner … what do you think? Useful tech if implemented like Vivo is claiming or gimmick? Let us know in the comments section.
